May 20-24, 1999 China International Exhibition Center, Beijing, P.R. China
Overview Sustainable development is being vigorously promoted and implemented as one the the two fundamental strategies for China's socioeconomic development. This exhibition represents a major action in that direction. On display are technologies, products and equipment closely related to sustainable development. The exhibition not only provides an opportunity for Chinese manufacturers and research institutes to solicit international co-operation but, more importantly, it also provides the gateway for foreign companies to conduct fruitful co-operation with their Chinese counterparts. Policies and Regulations To protect and support the development of environmentally-sound technologies and industries, the Chinese government has, in addition to formulating the guideline document, China's Agenda 21, enacted a series of laws and regulations. These consist of six laws on environmental standards, and 600 local regulations governing environmental protection and resource management. Together, these laws and regulations have encouraged, supervised and safeguarded the development of environmentally-friendly technologies and industries. Projects on Display
